Oyster Boats – 2016OysterBoatsLarge

Taken in Eastpoint Florida, this photo shows the boats and rakes that are used to harvest oysters today – just as they have been for over 100 years. This area of Florida is unique as the water is too shallow to employ contemporary harvest methods. The Apalachicola area is last place on earth that still does it this way – and time is limited for this practice, the young folks aren’t taking to this life as their ancestor’s. I love the history of Florida and the “Forgotten Coast” is a favorite of mine.

                         Nyx – 2015

The Greek goddess of the night, who mothered Hypnos (Sleep) and Thanatos (Death), with Erebus (Darkness). Nyx occupies a cave and, in some literature, is the first principle from which all creation emerges. This image is of the roof of a cave deep under Texas, the light is supplied from the moving flashlights of the people in our group.

Nyx was taken at Inner Space Caverns, Georgetown, Texas.
